Weekly Message: Lamentations (Ch.2)

Chapter 2

2:1-10 Jerusalem is speaking in the third person here. This section describes the result of the wrath of God that has taken place on the city. The Lord no longer dwells there.

2:11-19 The author begins to speak in first person here. Grief and sorrow over Jerusalem is a common theme throughout. Look up to the Lord is an expression of desperation as there is no where else to turn.

2:20-22 This may be perhaps Jerusalem’s response to verse 19. Jerusalem is personified in first person and it seems like she is pouring out her heart.
