We, as humans, are all uniquely different. We all have different ways we express emotion, things that make us happy or not so happy, and we don’t all look the same. We are each different and the hard part is often getting past those differences to be able to build relationships with one another. This short article is going to look at how unique we are but yet at the same time show how similar we are in our worth and who we are as God’s people.
We were all made in the image of God. It is an idea that you don’t have to look very far into the Bible to find out. When God created humans, He created them in His own image and in His own likeness. This means that we were made not only to reflect God’s role as rulers on earth but also to reflect His perfect attributes as well. God created us to be just like Him. What a powerful idea to ponder. God didn’t create us to put us down or make us slaves to Him. We were made in His perfect image and were made to rule the earth He has created. That in itself should allow us have self-worth and to know we are loved by the Creator of the universe.
God made us in His own image and we rebelled against Him. He could have abandoned His creation because of the choices we made but He didn’t. Instead, He sent His own Son to be a sacrifice for our mistakes. He sent Jesus down to earth to be killed by His creation so He could save His creation from their mistakes. He sent His Son to save us. What kind of being would do such a thing? A being who cares so much for His creation, and that’s who God is. You see, God has so much love, so much passion for us that He never gives up on us. He never stops pursuing us and He won’t let our mistakes keep us separated from Him. We can choose not to accept His love, but He will never stop loving us. No other human on this earth can love you the way God can.
So we are all made in God’s image and we are all loved by God. These are two simple ways in which we are the same. But we are all different. God didn’t make us all the same. He didn’t make us all have the same hair color or the same skin tone. He didn’t make us all have the same hobbies and interests or the same likes and dislikes. These are all part of the uniqueness that makes up each and every one of us. Even though we are different in all sorts of ways, we can all find common ground through Jesus Christ. We have all made mistakes, we all are in need of a Savior, and we can all find that salvation through Jesus Christ. God made us in His image, He loves us all, and He allows a way for us to be reunited with Him, through Jesus Christ.
We are all different in all sorts of ways, but we are also all the same in the eyes of the Creator and we can all have confidence that we are wonderfully, and uniquely His.
