Kingdom in the Letters
Paul’s Letters
- The Kingdom is not about trivial matters, or “rules,” but about right living, peace, and joy that come from the Holy Spirit — Rom. 14:17
- The Kingdom is demonstrated and evidenced by the power of the Holy Spirit, not just talk. The gifts and fruits of the Spirit are evidence of the Kingdom’s presence — 1 Cor. 4:19–20
- The Kingdom is something to be received by the righteous — 1 Cor. 6:9
- This means we must live right by others and God — Gal. 5:21; Eph. 5:5; 1 Thess. 2:12
- The Kingdom is not an earthly kingdom ruled by fallen humans — 1 Cor. 15:50
- Believers have been transferred into the Kingdom — Col. 1:13
- We suffer for the Kingdom — 2 Thess. 1:5
Other Letters
- Heb. 1:8 — “Scepter of kingdom”
- Quote from Psalm 45:6–7, a messianic Psalm.
- The writer is saying righteousness will be the way God rules in his Kingdom.
- Heb. 12:28 — “Receiving a Kingdom that can’t be shaken”
- The Kingdom will not be destroyed or shaken; it will remain eternal.
- The Kingdom is inherited by the poor of the world, those who love [God] — James 2:5
- Adding qualities to our faith will allow us to be welcomed into the Kingdom — 2 Pet. 1:11
- These help us not forget our state of forgiveness.
- Rev. 11:15 — The earthly Kingdom is renewed to Jesus’ Kingdom.
- Rev. 21–22 — Fulfillment of the Kingdom.
