Costa Rica
Costa Rica isn’t on everyone’s major bucket list for a vacation destination. But it is if you’re a birder. Costa Rica is home to some of the most marvelous and unique tropical birds on earth. Birds are found here that can be found nowhere else and it is hard to match its sensational color show of feathers. Birds like the Quetzal, Three-wattled Bellbird, Gold-hooded Tanager, Red-leg Honeycreeper, and the Keel-bill Toucan.
If there is one passage that talks about birds and their application for our lives, it is Matthew 6. Birds can teach us a lesson. Jesus tells us that they can teach us not to worry. They wake up everyday and they have to find food to survive. However, Jesus says they don’t worry about sowing their food so they can harvest and store it up. They just wake up, find food and do it all again the next day. God takes care of them. Since we are human, made in God’s image, we are much more valuable than birds and so God will take that much more care of us. Worrying will not help us reach our end goal. Trusting in a God who cares for us this much, will. When we look at all the beautiful birds God has created in a little area, it points us to a more powerful reality: God loves us more than these beautiful creatures, and so do not worry because your God can do more for you than you can do for yourself.
