The Story of The Bible (intro)

When we look at the Bible, it can be very confusing. There are all sorts of narratives, poetry, and confusing prophecies. When we take books of the Bible out of their context of the overall story of the Bible, it can cause confusion and leave error for misinterpretation. The story of God’s word is amazing and we are going to discover that story in a new series called “The Story of the Bible”. We are going to put all 66 books in their context to see how they fit with the big story line of the Bible and how they make several small story lines that we sometimes miss.

The big storyline of the Bible reaches its climax at Jesus. Everything in the Bible is leading up to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. As we work our way through the books, we will discover how they each point in their own way to the coming Messiah. With this big storyline in mind, there are also other smaller narratives that take place within the books that are also important as well. But as we will see, even those storylines point to Jesus in some way.

The first article in the series will be an overview of Genesis through Deuteronomy, the first five books of the Bible known as the Torah. These first five books are the foundation for everything we learn in the Bible. They are the foundation for the smaller story lines and the main story leading to Jesus. There is so much to understand in these first books so we will focus on these next time.
