“All things work together for good…” — Romans 8:28
Sometimes God can work through the pain and suffering in our life to create something we never thought possible. Romans 8 is a great place to look at this concept. Romans 8 describes the whole creation in a state of groaning, waiting for its renewal. It also says that creation is waiting for humanity’s renewal. Romans 8:28 has been widely misunderstood to mean that God works everything out for our good and that everything will be all right for believers. This is not so. What Paul is saying is that God will work through pain and suffering for our ultimate good, which will lead to eternal life. God works in all things, the good and the bad so that through them we can be made stronger and stay faithful to reach the “good” which is eternal life.
God does not find pleasure in watching us suffer, He wants us to trust Him for support and encouragement to get through the pain. Just like Yellowstone, the pain and suffering may turn out to be something beautiful. We just have to keep walking and keep hiking with God. Redemption will be on the trail ahead of us.
