- Judgment and Hope 7-12
- This section is woven with judgment that is coming on Israel but there will be a future hope. Immanuel will be born, a child will be born who will come from the stump of Jesse (meaning from the line of Jesse). Before all of that, Assyria will come to plunge Israel in death and defeat. God is using Assyria to exercise judgment on his people Israel. Through it all, a remnant of the people will remain. Then all people, not just Israel will rally around this Root of Jesse- who is Jesus. There will be absolute peace in the land as described by the animals in ch.11. A song of praise is given for the people will sing praising God.
