Temptation can be described as the desire to perform an action that one may enjoy now, but will most likely later regret he/she’s decision. One way to live with temptation is just to simply avoid it.
Avoid walking into a bar or a casino where temptation is all around you. (Romans 13:13-14). Jesus told his disciples to pray that they may not fall into temptation.(Matthew 6:13, Luke 22:40, Mark 14:38). God will not allow temptation to get out of hand to the point we can’t handle it. (1 Corinthians 10:11-13).
Evil temptation though does not come from God, it comes from Satan. Because, God cannot be tempted by evil nor can he tempt anyone himself. (James 1:13-15). An evil temptation would be trying to get you to do something that is wrong. Temptation itself is not a sin, it is what we do and the decisions that we make with the tempation that can make it a sin. Jesus shows us how to handle temptation in Matthew 4:1-11. Do not get discouraged when you’re facing trials because God is working in you. (James 1:2-3).
Remember to keep fighting temptation. For those that stand the test will recieve the crown of life. (James 1:12).
