7. 22:14- blessed are those who wash robes

1. Revelation 1:3 reads and hears – in a culture where public reading was the norm, this makes sense.

-“reads”- read, distinguish, know

– “Keep” – observe, guard

– Those who know and obey these words will be blessed.

2. Revelation 14:13 The dead who die in the Lord are blessed because they now rest from their work

– This contrasts the no rest that those who worship the beast receive

– We die in the Lord by persevering, and obeying God v.11

3. Revelation 16:15 Jesus is coming, so we must keep watch and clothed

  • We must keep ourselves “clothed” with good deeds because we do not know when Jesus will return.

4. Revelation 19:9 The wedding is the union of Christ and the church. The “feast” is then the reward to follow

– Luke 14:15

– Those who are invited – heard the gospel

5. Revelation 20:6 First resurrection- dead in Christ’s rise and reign. Will not see final death.

– “Priests, reign”- the Genesis I ideal is being restored for those who die in Christ. In God’s presence living out our vocation to rule with God

6. Revelation 22:7 Jesus is coming soon so we must keep these words

  • Keeps- understand, observe
  • words of prophecy -v.6 soon take place

7. Revelation 22:14 The blessed include 3 things here

  • wash their robes. have been cleansed by the blood of the lamb
  • Access to tree of life – eternal life
  • through gates into city- new city Jerusalem

The beatitudes conclude with a summative, blessing those who are a part of the family of the Lamb reign with him forever
