Names of God (Jehovah Sabaoth)

Most commonly used in Isaiah and Jeremiah this is a name that also describes God’s sovereignty and power. Jehovah, as we learned, means to exist or sustain. ‘Sabaoth’ means army or hosts. Sometimes we see ‘Lord of Armies’ or ‘Lord of Hosts’. He is the God above all armies or powers, even heaven’s armies of angels and hell’s army of demons. This also describes the hosts of heaven, otherwise known as the divine council. These are other spiritual beings surrounding God’s throne and He is sovereign over them as well.
